What Students Really Say About Anup Sensei: Real Reviews From Gogaku’s Japanese-Language Learners Search online for a Japanese-language teacher and almost every institute will tell you the same things. They may say their teachers are experienced. They may say their classes are effective. They may say their preparation is examination focused. They may say their materials are high quality. They may even describe themselves as one of the best Japanese-language institutes or training centers. But there is a much more meaningful question: What do the students themselves say after actually studying the lessons? That is the purpose of this page. Anup Sensei, also known as Anup Subedi, is a Japanese-language instructor and the founder and Managing Director of Gogaku Language & Training Center Pvt. Ltd. in Pokhara, Nepal. His teaching has developed around a practical question: What does a learner actually need in order to understand Japanese and perform well in an examination? Even though i don’t understand Nepali the mock tests were really helpful. I want to request you to make videos for N3. Thanks Sensei” This deserves attention for several reasons. First, the learner does not simply say that the video was good. He reports a specific outcome: “I passed N4 because of your videos.” Second, he explicitly says: “I am from India.” Third, he explains that he does not understand Nepali. Despite that language difference, he still says: “the mock tests were really helpful.” That tells us something important about effective exam preparation. Good Japanese examination preparation is not only about the language used by the teacher. The structure of the question matters. The quality of the examples matters. The realism of the mock test matters. The answer choices matter. The pattern of JLPT questions matters. The method of showing how questions should be approached matters. A learner may not understand every word of an explanation, but if the educational structure is strong enough, they can still gain value from the questions and practice.
